Sunday Lunch at Gastromaquia

01:39:00

Spent my Sunday afternoon at Gastromaquia in Senopati area. I have been here couple times, and always loving its overall ambiance. This time, I'm so happy to be back again and of course gonna left some review since I got a voucher worth IDR 500K for foods and beverages from Clozette Indonesia. I brought my boyfriend and my brother along, to help me reviewing and finishing up the dishes. Well, my boyfriend is really good at reviewing foods, while my brother is good at finishing up the dishes. And me? Just wanna chill and eat eat eatttt, hahaha.

We reached there around 12AM. When we go in, the waiters were greeting us warmly and lead us to our table at the first floor. Then we started to order the foods and beverages, with some guide and recommendation from the waiter herself. She explained the menus very well, and I just known that Gastromaquia Restaurant serves Spanish cuisines with special menus, recipes, and few ingredients originally from Madrid. So we ends up ordered chamomile tea and lychee tea for the drinks, and the foods were galitician octopus, garlic butter prawn, garlic noodle, and stuffed chicken with beef bacon and date.

While waiting for our foods to be served, its time to stroll around this restaurant. From the outside, you will found Gastromaquia in a small road next to Senopati Street, exactly at Cineru Street. The building is actually noticeable, its the two-stories Victorian design house in monocrome color scheme. From the outside, this restaurant may looks old and classic at the same time. But the interior looks clean, minimalist and bright, even brighter at the second floor, cause it has high-ceiling and open air balcony. Not forget to mention, this place has a lot of greens surrounding, makes this place more aesthetic and Insta-genic!

Actually there's something that catch my eyes once I go inside this restaurant. Guess what? No... Its not the food, hehe. Its the unique furnishing that goes along the first floor to second floor, spotted the kitchen utensils were nicely transformed into a clock, wall decoration, and lighting.

In less than 15 minutes, our foods and beverages were served very well. All of it looks so yummy! I couldn't wait to eat, but first.. We have to shot it properly.

LYCHEE TEA, IDR 35K
The first menu that comes, of course the beverages. Ordered this lychee tea, cause it sounds so refreshing and sweet. And yasss its definitely very refreshing, not too sweet for me, and the amount of lychee is very generous. Love it!

CHAMOMILE TEA, IDR 35K
What you could expect in a cup of chamomile tea? hahaha, but the cup is very unique though.

GALITICIAN OCTOPUS, IDR 80K
Now here comes the appetizer of the day. Actually, octopus isn't my kind of food-to-order cause I never like the texture of octopus that somehow hard to chew. But this galitician octopus at Gastromaquia has proven me wrong! The octopus meat is very soft when its warm, and the taste mixed well with the sauce made by foamed potato and melted cheese.

GARLIC BUTTER PRAWN, IDR 95K
Honestly, this is my favorite ones! The prawn is sooo tender and flavourful from the garlic, butter and chopped tomato. Also best eaten with the garlic bread.

GARLIC NOODLE, IDR 45K
Actually I didn't expect this garlic noodle gonna looks literally like 'bakmi' (Chinese noodle). Hmm, maybe because this menu were categorised under Asian menu. You might curious is it tastes exactly like 'bakmi'? .... Dang! It might looks plain and simple, but it tasted good. The garlic, butter and herbs were combined well to make this tasty garlic noodle.

STUFFED CHICKEN WITH BEEF BACON AND DATE, IDR 95K
This is one of the recommended menu in Gastromaquia, and it takes about 20 minutes to be served. But its definitely worth to wait, the chicken is very tender, stuffed with beef bacon and date. What makes the dish special is because the date is actually imported from Madrid, it really soft and sweet. Its successfully making the overall taste extra special from the unique combination of savoury and sweet.

Ezo Cheesecakes & Bakery

01:54:00

Weekend comes early this week! In the Friday afternoon, I had a tea time and cake testing at Ezo Cheesecakes and Bakery. Its a newly opened cafe in Pantai Indak Kapuk, Jakarta Utara.

Totally in love with everything in this small yet cozy cafe. The interior setting were nicely done with bright lighting so its really good for those of you who like to take photos, even just chill out with friends or family since they serves a lot varieties of beverages and desserts.

Because this was my first time visited this cafe, so I asked for the recommended menu. The waiter and waitress were friendly and polite, they explained the menu very well too. Finally ended up trying almost each flavours of Ezo's Signature cheese bomb and Hokkaido cheesecake.

Just like the menu's name itself, this cheese bomb is seriously A BOMB! The perfect combination of cheese mousse and crispy baked tartlets was melted in my mouth by the first bite. This cheese bomb comes in variety of toppings, including original, nutella, okinawa yuza, blueberry, salted caramel and oreo flavor. Before it served, the waiter/waitress are going to ask for your preference whether you like it served in warm or cold condition. I tried them both, I would say if you like the melted cheese bomb sensation then you gotta go for warm serving, but you also could take away and chill them in the fridge, then having it the next day for an ice cream cakes. For the tastewise,
  • My favorite ones is the nutella cheese bomb cause I'm a fan of chocolate, and I just love the taste of good melted cheese mixed with nutella.
  • Then, the okinawa yuza and blueberry are clearly my second favorite, the sweet and sour taste from lemon as well as blueberry sauce mixed perfectly with the cheese moist making it not overly sweet.
  • Also tried the original, salted caramel and oreo flavor, and they are just as delicious as the other variant of cheese bomb. Honestly, that was a hard decision. If you can have all, why have to pick one? :D

Moving on to Hokkaido cheesecake, it has really soft and moist texture since it has two layers of cheese souffle and cheese moist. Also comes in original, matcha, chocolate and oreo flavors. As the sizes were not too big, you guys could order every flavours and share with your friends or family. Luckily I got to try the original, matcha and oreo flavours,
  • The original flavour is definitely my favorite ones, cause I could really taste a good blends of mascarpone, parmesan and crème fraîche mix very well.
  • My second favorite goes to the matcha cheesecake, it has a good quality taste of uji matcha originated from Kyoto. For those matcha lovers, you know a blend of good cheese and matcha will never fail you.
  • Not forget to mention, also tried the oreo cheesecake. But I guess its kinda common in most cafes so its an average for me.

Overall, I really enjoyed and satisfied with the ambiance, services, and foods in Ezo Cheesecakes and Bakery. You guys should try their varieties of cheese bomb and Hokkaido cheesecake too. And don't forget to let me know which are your favorite ones in the comment box below! ;)

Healthy Treats: Overnight Oats and Chia Pudding

09:46:00

Overnight oat and chia pudding are my staple treats for breakfast, snack, or dessert. Its very easy to make, delicious and healthy considering the high content of proteins, fibers and healthy omega fats from chia seeds, oats and healthy topping I used such as yogurt, almond milk, as well as nuts and fruits.

This time, I'm really excited to try and introduce the local healthy dessert company Frubar Jakarta. They delivers ranges of flavours from over night oats, chia pudding and yogurt bowl of fruits around Jakarta area. You might want to droll over their feeds on Instagram @frubarjakarta.
Since I'm a bit curious about all the tempting flavours they got, they recommend me to try the small jars of overnight oats and chia pudding. Doesn't it look cute!

Flavours from the bottom left are,

Apple Yogurt
Chia seeds, milk, plain yogurt, apple, oat crunch
Banana-tella
Chia seeds, milk, plain yogurt, banana, raw cacao, oat crunch
Cinnamon Roll
Rolled oats, milk, yogurt, chia seeds, fresh apple, cinnamon

From the middle left are,

Brownie Batter

Rolled oats, milk, plain yogurt, chia seeds, homemade nutella, raw cacao

Monkey Bites
Rolled oats, milk, plain yogurt, chia seeds, banana, raw cacao

And the top one is,

Berry Lychee
Chia seeds, milk, strawberry yogurt, strawberry and lychee

All of them tastes really good, but my pick is cinnamon roll!

I love how the fresh apple give the crunchiness and sweetness at the same time, plus the smell of vanilla and cinnamon are amazing. Not forget to mention, the combination of soaked rolled oats and chia seeds blends very well, gives a nice texture and I confessed its very filling despite the jar looks small. You can tell from the ingredients itself, they used rolled oats, milk, plain yogurt, chia seeds, apple and cinnamon which are very filling yet nutritious, packed with proteins, fibers, essential fats, healthy probiotics and lots of calcium!

In addition, my boyfriend also taste them all and he loves berry lychee, the combination of fresh strawberry and lychee ends up very refreshing and sweet.

I don't know how about you guys, if you like something chocolaty, so the brownie batter, monkey bites and banana-tella are perfect for you. But if you like something refreshing and sweet, you should definitely go for cinnamon roll, apple yogurt and berry lychee! And if you are not sure just like me, you better grab the small handy jars from them and have varieties of flavours each days for your breakfast, snack or dessert.

Its so good to have these healthy treats in your diet since almost the ingredients they used are flat-belly friendly food! Instead of skipping meals which ended up overeating, its better to include a healthy, yummy and super filling snack on-the-go just like these handy jar from Frubar Jakarta.
